Gala started in bingo, but it moved into casinos early. In 2000 it bought 26 Ladbroke Casinos from the Hilton Group, its first step outside bingo. Gala became Gala Coral Group in 2005, was acquired by Ladbrokes in a deal that completed in 2016, and now belongs to Entain through GVC Holdings.
