PokerStars Casino is a UK online casino licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, with slots, blackjack, roulette and live dealer games. Read our summary.

We haven't finished our hands-on test of PokerStars yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, PokerStars's own published information and the sources linked on this page.

Who runs PokerStars Casino

PokerStars is best known as a poker room, and the casino sits alongside that. The brand launched with play-money tables on 11 September 2001 and real-money play on 12 December 2001, founded by Isai and Mark Scheinberg. Amaya Inc, later renamed The Stars Group, bought PokerStars and its parent in 2014 for $4.9 billion in cash.

The Stars Group agreed an all-share merger with Flutter Entertainment in October 2019, and PokerStars became part of Flutter on 5 May 2020. Real-money accounts in pounds sterling have been available since March 2010.

Licensing and customer funds

The UK site is operated by Stars Interactive Limited, which the pokerstars.uk footer describes as licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission under licence number 39108. The footer also places the company on the Isle of Man. The Gambling Commission's register entry for 39108 is the place to confirm what the licence covers.

PokerStars publishes a page on how customer funds are held, and the details are useful. It rates its protection of customer funds as High under the Gambling Commission's rating system. Player money sits in an independently managed trust account, with an independent trustee and a regulated fund manager. The balances must at least equal what is owed to players at any time. Funds are transferred daily from operating accounts to the trust account, and the company says it carries the risk if a payment processor defaults. Those are PokerStars' own statements, but they are more specific than many operators offer.

Slots, table games and live casino

The casino menu on pokerstars.uk lists online slots, including Megaways titles and Big Bass Splash, plus free spins. For table games it names online blackjack and online roulette, and it has a live casino section with live blackjack and live roulette.

The casino pages do not give a game count or a list of software providers. If you are choosing between casinos, look at the lobby itself to see whether your favourite games and providers are there.

Poker and the wider PokerStars account

The same site also offers poker with cash games, tournaments and Spin and Go formats, plus a sports section covering football, tennis, basketball and horse racing. This review covers the casino only. The PokerStars Rewards scheme and Challenges are listed under promotions, so check the terms for each.

One practical point is that limits apply across the group. PokerStars says a self-imposed deposit limit applies across PokerStars and Sky Betting and Gaming accounts because they belong to the same group. That can be useful if you play on more than one brand, because one limit covers them all.

Offers and promotions

PokerStars promotes free spins, Rewards and Challenges across its casino and promotions pages. Before you opt in to anything, check the amount, wagering requirement, expiry date and minimum deposit on pokerstars.uk.

If you see a PokerStars casino offer elsewhere, check it against the terms on pokerstars.uk. Look at the wagering requirement, which games count and how long you have to use it. Offers on third-party sites are often out of date.

Payments and withdrawals

PokerStars' help centre says deposit and withdrawal options vary depending on your country. To see what is available, you open the Cashier in the app, desktop software or website and choose Deposit or Withdraw. There are help articles on checking available payment methods, requesting a withdrawal and the Know Your Customer verification process.

Check the Cashier for the methods, minimums and withdrawal times that apply to your account before you deposit. Expect to complete identity verification before withdrawing, as UK-licensed operators are required to check who their customers are.

App, safer gambling and who it suits

PokerStars has iOS and Android apps, and a desktop client for Windows and Mac. The iPhone listing is for the poker app and describes responsible gaming tools; the casino is also reachable from the site.

On deposit limits, PokerStars lets you set daily, weekly or monthly limits. Reducing a limit or blocking deposits is approved immediately, while raising or removing one waits until the period ends and then needs a 24 hour pending period and confirmation. Customers aged 18 to 24 get a mandatory monthly limit of 650 US dollars, about 500 pounds. There is also a separate buy-in limit for poker.

PokerStars Casino suits UK players who already use PokerStars for poker and want a casino in the same account. We haven't finished our own hands-on test yet, so we can't comment on game quality or payout speed.
