888sport review: a UKGC-licensed sportsbook from evoke, also registered in Ontario and Alberta. Licensing, ownership, apps and safer gambling explained.

We haven't finished our hands-on test of 888sport yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, 888sport's own published information and the sources linked on this page.

Who runs 888sport and where it came from

888sport is the sports betting brand of evoke plc, the Gibraltar-based group that was known as 888 Holdings until it announced a change of name in March 2024. The group started life in 1997 as Virtual Holdings, moved its administrative centre to Gibraltar in 2003 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2005.

888sport itself launched in March 2008. In March 2019 the group paid £15 million for Dublin-based Dedsert Ltd, which had provided the sportsbook platform for BetBright. In 2022 shareholders approved the £1.95 billion purchase of William Hill, so 888sport now sits in the same group as one of the biggest names on the British high street.

Ownership may change again. Press reports in July 2026 said Bally's Intralot was moving closer to acquiring evoke. We will update this page if a deal completes.

Licensing and safety

In Great Britain, 888sport operates under the UK Gambling Commission licence held by 888 UK Limited, account number 39028. You can look the account up on the Commission's public register. The Commission sets the minimum age for online gambling at 18, and every licensed online operator must take part in GAMSTOP, the national self-exclusion scheme.

In Canada, 888sport is listed as a regulated operator in Ontario, where it is registered with the AGCO and works under an agreement with iGaming Ontario, and in Alberta, where it is registered with the AGLC and the Alberta iGaming Corporation. The Canadian licensee is VHL Ontario Limited. The minimum age in Ontario is 19. In Alberta it is 18.

888sport is not offered in the US, so nothing here applies to American states.

Markets and focus

Evoke describes 888sport as a challenger brand and names the UK, Spain and Italy as core markets for 888sport and William Hill. In practice that points to a heavy football focus.

Check the site for the full list of sports and markets, and for features such as cash out, bet builder and live streaming.

Welcome offer and promotions

888sport's welcome offer for the UK and Canada changes over time, so read the current terms on the site before you register.

Whatever the offer is on the day you read this, UK rules apply to it. The Gambling Commission capped wagering requirements at 10 times the bonus from 19 January 2026, and it banned promotions that require play across two or more gambling products. Always read the full terms for minimum deposit, minimum odds and expiry before opting in.

App and site

888sport has an iPhone app on the Apple App Store, listed as 888 Sport: Live Sports Betting, and an Android app on Google Play. We haven't tested either app yet.

The main site is at 888sport.com for UK customers. Canadian customers use the separate 888sport.ca address.

Safer gambling and who it suits

UK customers can use GAMSTOP, and the Gambling Commission requires licensed operators to offer tools such as deposit limits. In Ontario, ConnexOntario offers a free helpline on 1-866-531-2600.

888sport is likely to suit people in the UK or Ontario and Alberta who want a licensed sportsbook backed by a large listed group, particularly if they follow football.
