Who runs BetVictor and where it came from
BetVictor is an old name in bookmaking. The business traces back to William Chandler, owner of Walthamstow Stadium, in 1931, with brothers Victor and Jack taking over the bookmaking side after his death in 1946. The company moved to Gibraltar in 1998, traded for a time as VC Bet and Victor Chandler, and took the name BetVictor in 2012.
British businessman and racehorse owner Michael Tabor took control in May 2014 as a major shareholder of Victor Chandler International. Treat that as background, as current ownership may differ.
BetVictor also supplies its technology to other brands. It has a white-label arrangement for Parimatch in the UK from 2020 and the talkSPORT BET partnership from 2022. The UK Gambling Commission register marks talkSPORT BET, Betano UK and Parimatch UK as white labels on the same account.
Licensing and safety
In Great Britain, BetVictor operates under BV Gaming Limited, account 39576, with its head office in Gibraltar. The Gambling Commission register shows remote licences for real event betting, virtual event betting, casino, bingo and gambling software, all listed as active. Real event betting and casino have been active since 1 November 2014.
The register is also where regulatory history lives. In February 2022 the Commission imposed £2 million of regulatory action on the company over fairness, social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures, and the Advertising Standards Authority ruled in 2023 against a Facebook advert featuring FC Barcelona players. Both are worth knowing, and both are now several years old.
In Canada, the licensee is BV (Canada) Limited. iGaming Ontario lists BetVictor at betvictor.com/en-on for casino and sports betting, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation directory lists BetVictor Sportsbook and Casino. Ontario players must be 19 or older and physically in the province.

Check the site for the number of sports covered and for features such as cash out, bet builder and live streaming.
The brand has long-running sponsorship and media ties around British sport, including the talkSPORT BET partnership, and it has operated as a bookmaker for far longer than most online-only brands. Whether that translates into better odds or markets is a question for hands-on testing, which we have not yet done.
