BoyleSports is an Irish bookmaker licensed by the UK Gambling Commission for betting and casino. Read about its history, regulation and safer gambling tools.

We haven't finished our hands-on test of BoyleSports yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, BoyleSports's own published information and the sources linked on this page.

Who runs BoyleSports and its history

BoyleSports is a bookmaker founded by John Boyle, who opened his first betting shop in Markethill, County Armagh, in Northern Ireland. The founding year is given as 1982, though 1989, when five shops opened in Drogheda, may be used elsewhere. The company is headquartered in Dundalk, with a satellite office in Gibraltar.

Growth has come mainly from the high street. The 100th shop opened in 2006 and the 250th in Kilcullen, County Kildare in 2018. It moved into the UK retail market in 2019 with 13 Midlands shops and bought 33 William Hill shops in Northern Ireland in 2020. By 2025 it reported more than 380 retail branches across Ireland and the UK. John Boyle is chairman, and Vlad Kaltenieks was appointed chief executive in 2023.

Licensing and safety

For customers in Great Britain, the licensee is Boylesports Enterprise, Gambling Commission account 39469, with its head office in Dundalk. The register lists five remote licences, all active from 1 November 2014: general betting on real events, general betting on virtual events, pool betting, casino and bingo.

You can check that entry yourself on the Commission's public register. It is a stronger signal than any badge on a website, and it also tells you which products the licence covers. This review covers the British site.

Sports and sponsorships

BoyleSports has deep roots in racing. It has sponsored the BoyleSports Champion Chase at Punchestown since 2010 and has held headline sponsorship of the Irish Grand National and the Irish Greyhound Derby since 2014. It has also backed darts, including the PDC World Grand Prix.

In football, it has had shirt sponsorships with Birmingham City, Wolves, Coventry City and Newcastle United, and with West Ham United from July 2025.

Check the sportsbook for markets and for features such as cash out, bet builder and live streaming.

Welcome offer and promotions

BoyleSports' welcome offer changes over time, so check its promotions page for the current terms.

When you check the current offer yourself, look for the minimum deposit, the qualifying bet size and odds, how long you have to use any free bets, and whether certain regions or devices are excluded. A free bet is a marketing tool, not a way of making money.

Payments and apps

Check the BoyleSports cashier for deposit and withdrawal methods, and expect to verify your identity before your first withdrawal.

BoyleSports has a sports betting app on the App Store and an Android app on Google Play.

Safer gambling and who it suits

In Great Britain, GAMSTOP is a free service that lets you block yourself from online gambling websites and apps. Use it alongside the deposit limits and time-outs inside your account.

BoyleSports suits people who like a bookmaker with a long retail history and strong racing and darts links. If you want a full comparison of odds, markets and speed of payouts, that needs hands-on testing, which we have not done. Set a budget before you start.
