FanDuel is a licensed US and Canadian sportsbook and casino owned by Flutter, with same-game parlays and a Rewards Club. See where it is available.

We haven't finished our hands-on test of FanDuel yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, FanDuel's own published information and the sources linked on this page.

Who runs FanDuel

FanDuel was founded on 21 July 2009 in Edinburgh, Scotland, as a pivot from a news prediction site called Hubdub. It started with daily fantasy sports.

In July 2018 Paddy Power Betfair, now Flutter Entertainment, completed its investment in the company, forming FanDuel Group. The first branded sportsbook opened at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey a few days after that deal. FanDuel Casino began launching in selected states in 2021.

Its products include the sportsbook, daily fantasy sports, horse racing and online casino.

Licensing by state and province

In the US the sportsbook is licensed state by state. It is available in Colorado, Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Wyoming. The licensee for the US sportsbook is Betfair Interactive US, LLC, trading as FanDuel Sportsbook.

In Canada, FanDuel Canada ULC operates in Ontario, regulated by the AGCO and iGaming Ontario, and in Alberta, regulated by the AGLC and Alberta iGaming Corporation. The Canadian app listing says users must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario.

Sports and bet types

The US App Store listing talks about NFL, NBA and MLB, with real-time odds, live in-game markets and same-game parlays. The Canadian listing is more detailed. It names moneylines, over-unders, spreads, parlays, same-game parlays, player props, futures, in-game betting and novelty bets.

Sports on the Canadian listing include the NFL and college football, NBA, WNBA, college basketball, MLB, NHL and PWHL, soccer (the Champions League, La Liga and the Premier League), MMA and tennis. Neither listing mentions cash out or live streaming, so check the app for them.

Rewards and other products

The US listing describes a Rewards Club, a Refer a Friend scheme with caps and conditions, and a product called Predicts, where users make predictions on matchups or moments, with a Combo Builder that stacks up to eight. Predicts is available in a different set of states from the sportsbook, and prediction markets are not state-licensed sportsbooks, so we do not cover it here.

The Canadian listing mentions odds boosters, parlay insurance and big win bonuses, without amounts.

Promotions

FanDuel's US App Store listing carried promotion lines such as "Bet $5 Get $200 in Bonus Bets" for the sportsbook, and described bonuses as non-withdrawable bonus bets that expire after seven days. Offers change often and differ by state, so check the live promotion for your state before you sign up.

Bonus bets rarely return the stake, so read the terms for your state before you opt in.

App and withdrawals

The iPhone app is called FanDuel Sportsbook & Casino. The US listing showed version 2.161.0 and about 2.3 million ratings averaging 4.8. It is rated 18+ on the store, with a betting age of 21 in most places and 18 in DC and Wyoming. Reviews on the listing mention geolocation errors and support responsiveness.

The Canadian listing describes withdrawals as lightning fast, with payouts in as little as two hours. That is FanDuel's own claim, and it will depend on the method and on account checks. Check the cashier for payment methods.

Who it suits

FanDuel suits bettors in a licensed US state, Ontario or Alberta who like same-game parlays and a rewards programme in a mainstream app.

We haven't finished our own hands-on test yet, so there is no score. Only bet what you can afford to lose and set limits first. The Canadian listing carries a problem gambling helpline, 1-866-531-2600.
