Ladbrokes review: UK Gambling Commission licensed sportsbook and casino from the Entain group, with a long bookmaker history. Payments, app and safer gambling.
We haven't finished our hands-on test of Ladbrokes yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, Ladbrokes's own published information and the sources linked on this page.
Ladbrokes history and who owns it
Ladbrokes is one of the oldest names in British betting. The business began in 1886 as a commission agency for horses trained at Ladbroke Hall in Warwickshire, took the Ladbrokes name in 1902 and moved to London. Betting shops became legal in 1961, and the company listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1967.
In November 2016 it merged with Coral to form Ladbrokes Coral Group, described as Britain's largest bookmaker with more than 4,000 shops at that point. It has been part of Entain since 2018.
Licensing and safety
The online sportsbook operates under UK Gambling Commission licence 54743, held by LC International Limited. The licence number can be checked on the Commission's public register.
Entain, the owner, says it has 35 brands in more than 30 markets, with roughly 28,000 colleagues and £5.3bn of revenue in 2025, and that about 98% of revenue is regulated. Those are the group's own figures. The group page lists Ladbrokes, Coral, Gala and Foxy as its UK and Ireland brands, and says player protection is a strategic focus without giving specific measures.
Sports and betting features
Ladbrokes lists sports betting as its core product, alongside casino, poker and bingo. The help centre has a dedicated sports section with a Cash Out topic, so cash out is part of the product.
We haven't finished our own hands-on test yet, so check the sportsbook for its sports and markets range, in-play coverage, live streaming and Bet Builder before you deposit.
Offers and promotions
Ladbrokes runs a regular programme of new-customer and existing-customer promotions. Offers change often and carry minimum odds, expiry dates and market exclusions, so read the terms attached to the specific offer on the day you sign up.
Payments and withdrawals
The Ladbrokes help centre lists Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, PayPal, paysafecard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Pay by Bank and bank transfer among its payment topics. It also links pages on deposit limits and withdrawals.
Check the cashier for the minimum amounts, withdrawal times and options that apply to your account, and remember that paysafecard is usually a deposit-only route.
App, support and safer gambling
Ladbrokes has apps for iOS and Android, listed in the UK App Store and Google Play as the Ladbrokes sports betting app. The help centre includes a Deposit Limits page, and UK licensed operators must offer safer gambling tools, with GAMSTOP available for self-exclusion across all licensed UK sites.
Who Ladbrokes suits
Ladbrokes suits UK bettors who like a long-established bookmaker with a large group behind it and a broad choice of payment methods, including PayPal. Its high street heritage makes it a familiar name for football and racing fans.
If the exact welcome offer or markets matter to you, confirm them on the site before depositing.
