Who runs NorthStar Bets
NorthStar Bets is owned and operated by NorthStar Gaming Inc., a Canadian company, according to its 12 May 2022 launch press release. The release quoted CEO and founding partner Michael Moskowitz. The brand was built with the creative agency Leo Burnett, and the launch included an advertising and content arrangement with Torstar, the publisher of thestar.com, and Parleh Media Group as its official affiliate partner.
Hockey broadcaster Rod Black was announced as host and brand ambassador, and Chris Johnston as senior NHL insider.
Licensing and safety
NorthStar Bets is registered under Ontario's regulated model. The site says it is licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario with registration number OPIG1226485, and iGaming Ontario's directory lists northstarbets.ca for NorthStar Gaming (Ontario) Inc. under casino and sports betting.
The iGO page states that players must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario. The NorthStar site shows an RG Check logo and links to ConnexOntario on 1-866-531-2600.
Sports and markets
The homepage says the sportsbook covers hockey, basketball, football and international events, with live betting where odds adjust during games.
The launch release describes a sportsbook that surfaces real-time news, stats, analysis and scores inside the betting environment, which suits people who like to research before they bet.
Welcome offer and promotions
The homepage displayed a casino welcome offer, a 100% deposit match up to $1,000, with a promotion period from 9 October 2025 to 13 January 2026 that has now ended. Offers change often, so check the promotions page for what is live.
