We haven't finished our hands-on test of Paddy Power yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, Paddy Power's own published information and the sources linked on this page.
Who runs Paddy Power
Paddy Power was founded in 1988 through a merger of forty shops belonging to three Irish bookmakers, led by Stewart Kenny, David Power and John Corcoran. It is headquartered in Dublin, and its parent listed on the London Stock Exchange in December 2000.
In September 2015 it agreed to merge with Betfair, a deal completed in February 2016 that created Paddy Power Betfair. The group is now Flutter Entertainment, and Flutter's own brands page calls Paddy Power its UK and Irish brand and says it is the official sportsbook partner of the NFL in the UK and Ireland. Paddy Power also announced the closure of 57 shops in October 2025.
Licensing and safety
Paddy Power is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission under account 39439, held by PPB Counterparty Services Limited, with related Flutter entities on accounts 39426, 39411 and 52819. The apps are rated 18+ and link to GambleAware on 0808 8020 133.
It has a regulatory record you should know about. The Gambling Commission issued a £2.2 million penalty in October 2018 and a £490,000 penalty in May 2023 for sending promotional notifications to self-excluded customers.
Sports and markets
The App Store listing names football, horse racing, boxing, rugby, tennis, golf, darts, snooker and F1, and big events including the Premier League, Champions League, Cheltenham, the Grand National and the Epsom Derby. It says there are more than 100,000 live events a year streamed within the app.
Betting features
The app lists Bet Builder and Bet Builder+, which combine selections within a game or across events. Other tools described are Ghost Leg, a token for pre-match Bet Builders that still pays on winning legs if one leg loses, Popular Bet Builder showing what other users are backing, a Bet Builder Tracker, ACCA Stats, player stats for football, and Super Sub, where a bet rolls over to a replacement if the chosen player is substituted.
The listing also mentions Win More markets, where shots that hit the woodwork count as shots on target in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup for the 2026/27 season. Check the market rules in the app, as they can vary by competition.
Welcome offer and promotions
The App Store listing advertises £30 in free bets after a £5 bet for new customers, with terms and conditions applying. Read the live terms for the qualifying odds, payment method exclusions and free bet expiry.
Ongoing promotions in the listing include Moneyback Specials, Justice Pay-outs, Power Boosts and weekly free bets through Paddy's Rewards Club.
Payments and the app
Paddy Power's help centre and payments page list the methods and withdrawal times, so check them before you deposit.
The Paddy Power Sports Betting app was on version 11.5.0 with a 4.7 rating from about 267,000 ratings. Written reviews are mixed, with complaints about slot payouts, account suspensions and support. It needs iOS 15 or later.
