Who runs PROLINE+
PROLINE+ is the online sportsbook run by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), a Crown corporation owned by the Government of Ontario. Its board reports to the minister responsible for gaming. OLG began life in 1975 as the Ontario Lottery Corporation and merged with the Ontario Casino Corporation in April 2000.
PROLINE itself is OLG's sports betting game, sold at retailers across the province. The PROLINE+ name covers the digital version, which OLG's pages describe as letting you bet on a range of sports and events in the app and withdraw winnings with a button. The same OLG account also covers online casino and lottery products.
Regulation and safety
This is a different set-up from the private sportsbooks in Ontario. PROLINE+ is run by OLG itself as the province's Crown operator, so there is no private operator registration to check. Players must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario to bet online. In-store PROLINE betting is open from age 18.
OLG's home page promotes PlaySmart, which explains how games work and the tools available if play stops being fun, and My PlayBreak, a break-from-play option. It links to ConnexOntario for support on 1-866-531-2600. OLG publishes game conditions for PROLINE+, which set out the rules for bets, cash out and settlement.
Betting options and features
OLG's PROLINE+ game conditions set the wager range from $0.10 to $50,000, with OLG able to accept larger bets at its discretion. Cash Out lets you settle a wager before all its markets are resulted. The amount depends on the current odds, so it can be more or less than your stake, and a completed cash out is final. It is available on selected pre-match and live markets, on single and parlay bets, but not on promotional bets.
The PROLINE app page lists live bet alerts for your teams, more events and markets including soccer, snooker, baseball and badminton, and more Same Game Parlay options for top sports. OLG also lists Second Chance bets and Profit Boosts among its rewards. A parlay needs every selection to win, and OLG restricts some correlated combinations unless they are offered as Same Game Parlays.
Welcome offer
OLG's current sports sign-up offer is Bet $10, Get $100. You place a single qualifying bet of at least $10 within seven days of signing up. After it settles, you receive $100 in Sports Bonus Bets as five $20 bets, and they expire 168 hours after issuance. It is for new players aged 19 or older.
OLG also advertises a Second Chance promotion of up to $500 in Sports Bonus Bets if a qualifying $10 bet misses, but its page does not explain how the amount is worked out. Bonus bets are not cash, and the stake is not returned with winnings. Read the promotion terms linked from OLG before you claim.
Deposits and withdrawals
OLG accepts Visa debit and credit, Mastercard, Debit Mastercard, American Express, Interac e-Transfer and Apple Pay for deposits, according to its banking page. Check the banking page for minimum deposit amounts.
Withdrawals work through electronic funds transfer to a bank account in your name. You need to register the account and upload a document dated within the last two months, such as a statement or void cheque, and your account stays unverified until OLG approves it. OLG says verification typically takes under five business days, and the bank transfer then takes about one to five business days. Only one successful withdrawal request per day is allowed. You can set an optional deposit limit.
App and in-store betting
The PROLINE app is available on iOS and Android. It has two modes. PROLINE+ Online is for account-based betting. PROLINE In-Store lets you build a betslip in the app and scan a barcode at a retailer, with no account needed. Winners can scan their ticket after the game and collect the same day, subject to retail hours and a $1,000 cash limit.
This mix of online and retail betting is unusual, and it will appeal to people who like betting in a shop. The app also offers live bet alerts and instant promotion notifications.
Who PROLINE+ suits
PROLINE+ suits Ontario residents who want a government-run sportsbook, or who already use OLG for lottery or casino. The welcome offer is straightforward, and it has useful features like cash out and same game parlays.
We haven't finished our own hands-on test yet, so we can't say how it compares with private Ontario sportsbooks on odds or speed. These notes reflect what OLG states publicly.
