theScore Bet review: PENN-owned sportsbook regulated in Ontario, Alberta and licensed US states, with streaming, parlays and a first-bet bonus offer.

We haven't finished our hands-on test of theScore Bet yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, theScore Bet's own published information and the sources linked on this page.

Who is behind theScore Bet

theScore began as a Canadian sports media company. The digital business was spun off in 2012, the sportsbook launched as theScore Bet in September 2019, and PENN Entertainment bought the company for $2 billion in October 2021. theScore Bet launched in Ontario in April 2022. Alberta approval followed in April 2026.

In the US, the app listing says theScore Bet was previously called ESPN BET, and that the version history shows the rebrand in March 2026. Regulator lists now show theScore Bet under PENN. The Canadian operator is Score Media and Gaming Inc., and the US licensee is Penn Sports Interactive, LLC.

Licensing and where it is available

In Canada, theScore Bet is registered in Ontario (AGCO and iGaming Ontario) and Alberta (AGLC). The Ontario terms say service is provided on behalf of iGaming Ontario and that you must be physically in the province. Age limits are 19 in Ontario and 18 in Alberta.

In the US, sportsbook is available in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia, each under that state's regulator. The US app listing says users must be 21 or older.

The US app store listing names more states than this list, so check your own state before signing up.

Sports and betting features

The US app covers the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, golf, motorsports, MMA and UFC, tennis, soccer and NCAA sports. It lists custom parlays, same-game parlays, cross-sport parlays and teasers. The Canadian listing adds early cash-outs, Profit Boosts and a Parlay Lounge, and mentions links to theScore's news, stats and scores.

The US listing says registered users with a funded account can stream live events, subject to restrictions and blackouts. As with any streaming claim, check what is on for your match.

Offers

In the US, the app listing advertises a First Bet Reset: new players can get up to $1,000 in Bonus Bets if their first bet loses, in select states. Bonus Bets are not cash, so read how they are paid and used. The general promo terms say each offer has its own rules, rewards can be cancelled if the qualifying bet is voided or cashed out early, and offers are one per person.

Check the terms for your province, because the US offer may not apply in Canada.

Payments and withdrawals

Check the cashier for payment methods, minimums and processing times in your province or state. The casino app listing says winnings are paid in cash with a 1X playthrough.

App store reviews mention withdrawal delays, identity verification and promotion eligibility. Those are individual comments, but they suggest verifying your account before you need a payout.

App and support

There are separate listings for the US app, the Canadian sportsbook and the Canadian casino, all from Score Media and Gaming Inc. The Canadian listing gives support at [email protected] and 1 (855) 550-1238, and points to ConnexOntario and 211 Alberta for gambling help.
