Who runs BetMGM
BetMGM is a brand tied to MGM Resorts International, and its structure differs by market. In the US it began as a joint venture. In July 2018 MGM announced a 50/50 venture with GVC Holdings, now Entain, to build a sports betting and online gambling business, and in January 2019 the venture was named Roar Digital.
In the UK, the picture is different. LeoVegas Group lists BetMGM among its brands, with separate sites in the UK, the Netherlands and Sweden, running on LeoVegas technology. MGM Resorts announced an offer to buy LeoVegas in May 2022 for $607 million and had the approvals it needed by 7 September 2022. The UK licensee is LeoVegas Gaming PLC.
Licensing and safety
In Great Britain, BetMGM is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission under account 39198, held by LeoVegas Gaming PLC. The minimum age is 18 and GAMSTOP applies.
In Canada, BetMGM Canada Inc. is listed as a regulated operator in Ontario and Alberta. You need to be 19 in Ontario and 18 in Alberta.
In the US, BetMGM is licensed state by state. BetMGM offers sports betting in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Wyoming. The licensee is BetMGM, LLC. You must be 21 or over.
US sports partnerships
BetMGM has built its profile through sport partnerships. It signed official deals with the NBA, NHL and MLB in late 2018, an NFL team partnership with the Denver Broncos from July 2020, and won a New York State sports betting licence in November 2021. In July 2024 it became the training kit sponsor of Tottenham Hotspur for the 2024-25 season.
These partnerships say something about the brand's reach, but not about the product. Check the site for markets and for features such as cash out, bet builder and streaming.
Welcome offer and payments
BetMGM's welcome offers, payment methods, minimum deposits and withdrawal times differ by region, so check the terms for the UK, Canada or your US state before you deposit.
In the UK, offers must follow the Gambling Commission rules effective from 19 January 2026, including a 10 times cap on bonus wagering.
Apps
BetMGM has an iPhone app on the Apple App Store (listed as BetMGM Online Casino and Sports) and an Android app on Google Play. We haven't tested them yet, and the store listings may differ by country.
