We haven't finished our hands-on test of BetRivers yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, BetRivers's own published information and the sources linked on this page.
Who runs BetRivers
BetRivers is the consumer brand of Rush Street Interactive, usually shortened to RSI. According to the company's own press material, RSI is based in Chicago and was founded in 2012. It launched PlaySugarHouse.com in New Jersey in September 2016 and says that made it the first US operator to offer a fully integrated online sportsbook and casino.
The BetRivers name grew out of the company's links with Rivers Casinos. RSI runs in-casino sportsbooks at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh and Rivers Casino Philadelphia, and at French Lick Resort in Indiana. In Canada, the licensee is Rush Street Interactive Canada, ULC.
Licensing and where you can use it
There is no single US licence, because online betting is regulated state by state. BetRivers' US sportsbook is available in Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Each state has its own regulator, and the state selector on betrivers.com sends you to the version that applies where you are.
In Canada the picture is just as local. The iGaming Ontario directory lists BetRivers at betrivers.ca for casino and sports betting, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation directory lists BetRivers Casino and Sportsbook among its registered sites. Ontario's regulator states that players must be 19 or older and physically in the province. The Alberta directory carries an 18+ notice.
A useful point for anyone checking the brand: the operator's landing page also links to BetRivers.net Casino4Fun, a free-play site for the US and Canada. That is a separate product with no real-money betting, so do not confuse it with the licensed sportsbook.
Sports and betting markets
BetRivers' own landing page describes the sportsbook as offering most sports bets and the chance to compare odds. It does not publish a list of sports, bet types or odds formats on that page, and the detailed betting menu sits behind the state login screens.
Because markets and limits are set under each state's rules, the range you see in Pennsylvania may not match what is offered in, say, Ontario. Check the site in your own state or province for cash out, bet builder and live streaming.
RSI's in-casino sportsbook roots in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and French Lick suggest a retail betting background, but the online product is a separate build and should be judged on its own.
Welcome offer and rewards
The BetRivers homepage advertises a $250 welcome bonus in its page description. The page does not show terms such as the minimum deposit, wagering rules or expiry, and offers on regulated US sites often differ from state to state.
In a 2020 press release about its Pennsylvania casino launch, RSI described a $250 match bonus with a one-time playthrough requirement and mentioned its iRush Rewards loyalty scheme. That release is a few years old, so treat it as background rather than the current deal. Always read the bonus terms for your own state before depositing, and remember that a bonus is a promotion, not a way of earning money.
Payments and withdrawals
BetRivers does not publish a payments table on its landing page. In the 2020 release, RSI listed credit and debit cards, ACH, PayPal, online banking, wire transfers, BetRivers prepaid cards, and cash deposits at the Rivers Casino cage or at PayNearMe retail locations. It also said it put the emphasis on fast payouts.
That list was written for Pennsylvania at launch, so the methods, minimums and withdrawal times you see today may be different. Open the cashier in your state before you register to see what applies.
Safer gambling and who it suits
Ontario players can reach ConnexOntario on 1-866-531-2600. Alberta's regulator points players to 211 Alberta (call or text INFO to 211) and the Centralized Self-Exclusion Program at selfexclusion.ca. In the US the national helpline is 1-800-GAMBLER, and some states require their own numbers.
BetRivers suits people who want a sportsbook that is licensed in their own state or province and who like having the casino under the same login where both are legal. It is less useful if you live outside the 15 sportsbook states or the two Canadian provinces, because it is simply not available there. Set deposit limits before you start and only stake what you can afford to lose.
