Play Alberta is the AGLC's government-run casino for Alberta, with slots, live dealer tables, instants and a deposit match for new players 18+.
We haven't finished our hands-on test of Play Alberta yet, so there's no score. Everything below comes from regulator records, Play Alberta's own published information and the sources linked on this page.
Who runs Play Alberta Casino
Play Alberta's casino is operated under the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission, which also regulates the market. NeoPollard Interactive runs the site under AGLC direction. Before July 2026 it was Alberta's only legal online casino, and it now competes with private operators registered with AGLC and signed up with the Alberta iGaming Corporation.
The casino was added to the Play Alberta app in 2025, with casino, lottery, instants and live dealer on top of the sportsbook.
Safety and regulation
Play Alberta says online gambling in the province is regulated by AGLC and AiGC. You must be 18 or older and in Alberta to play. Players can use GameSense, the AGLC self-exclusion program and account limits.
Because Play Alberta is government run, there is no private operator licence to check. Play Alberta also plugs into the central self-exclusion system that all licensed operators must join.
Games
The app listing names slots, blackjack, baccarat, roulette, interactive game shows and live dealer tables. Instant games and online scratchers are also listed, with titles such as Big Crush Multiplier, Road Trip, Instant Keno and Pirate's Quest. The website adds keno, First Person Roulette and Alberta-themed slots linked to the Oilers and Flames.
No total game count is given. BetMGM alone was expected to launch in Alberta with more than 9,500 casino games, so Play Alberta's library is likely smaller than the biggest private brands. Lottery results for Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, Daily Grand and Western Max can also be checked in the app.
Welcome offers
Play Alberta lists four welcome offers for new players aged 18 or over in Alberta. For casino players, there are two. The $1,000 Deposit Match comes with a $50 Sports Bonus Bet and 60 bonus spins on 7s Wild. You enter code CASINOMATCH1000 with a first deposit of $10 or more. Wagering is 20x on the match and 1x on the bonus spins, and the offer expires on 8 December 2026.
The other is a $100 Casino Bonus with code 100CASINOBONUS, a $10 minimum deposit and 8x wagering, also expiring on 8 December 2026. A fourth offer, LOTTOBOGO, is for lottery purchases. Welcome bonuses can be claimed once per player, so compare the wagering carefully. Eight times on a smaller bonus is a lighter commitment than twenty times on a large match.
The 50/50 bonus model
Play Alberta explains how its bonus program works. Each wager is split 50% from cash and 50% from bonus balance, when both are available, and winnings follow the same split. Jackpots are always paid as 100% cash. Slots usually contribute 100% towards wagering, while table games such as blackjack and roulette contribute less.
Always read the terms of the specific bonus before accepting it, and remember that bonus balance is spent alongside your own cash on every bet while it lasts.
Payments, support and who it suits
Check the help section at playalberta.ca/help for payment methods and withdrawal times. The free iPhone app, published by AGLC, requires iOS 17.6 or later, carries an 18+ rating and shows 4.3 out of 5 from about 5,000 ratings on the App Store. It includes age assurance controls and says it is for adults in Alberta, with responsible gambling tools such as loss and spending limits under My Account.
Play Alberta casino suits Alberta players who value a provincially run site with clear published wagering terms, and those who like having lottery and instants in the same account. Set a deposit limit before you claim any match bonus.
One thing to weigh up is the competition. About 28 licensed operators were expected on day one of the new market, including FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, BetRivers, PointsBet Canada, theScore Bet, Betway and BET99, and estimates put Play Alberta's market share between 23% and 32%. Rivals may offer bigger libraries and bigger marketing budgets, but Play Alberta has an established customer base, and existing accounts did not need re-registering. Alberta keeps 20% of net iGaming revenue, with 2% going to First Nations initiatives and 1% to problem gambling research and treatment.
